Two cases of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia are presented together with a
review of the literature.
They were confirmed by bone marrow and lymphocyte surface marker studies are
reported.
Both cases showed generalized lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomehaly and marked
leukocytosis (49,100/u1-83,300/u1) with absolute lymphocytosis(93%). The second case
had thrombocytopenia (85,000/ul).
On the bone marrow aspiration smears, normal hematopoietic elements were replaced
by small mature lymptocytes and a few smudge cell were observed.
Surface marker study of first case revealed SmIg of lamnda type(60%), T-rosette(20
%), B-rosette(10%), T & B double rosette(60%), 12(70%), B1(60%), B4(70%).
Marker study of second case revealed SmIg of lambda type(35%) T-rosette(9%), B-
rosette(8%), T & B double rosette(71%), 12(65%), B4(60%) and B1(50%).
